We love it roasted! Pumpkin seeds (pepitas) can be added to the dishes, but you can also eat them as a snack between the meal. Full of taste and healthy nutrients, pumpkin seeds are worth adding to your diet.

Pumpkin seeds have about 157 kcal in 28 grams that mainly come from fat and protein. They are rich in magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, and are a good source of iron, zinc and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Among these elements pumpkin seeds contain as well as a respected amount of calcium, copper, and vitamins E, B2, K, carotenoids.

We had all that in mind when we had created a recipe for our Lemon Crush B!TE ME Bar. Every ingredient has been carefully chosen not only to taste good but to give us nutrients that we usually lose during our activities.

The best natural source of magnesium

We often lack magnesium in our diet, and you can be sure that pumpkin seeds are one of the best natural sources of magnesium that is needed for hundreds of chemical reactions in our bodies. Adequate levels of magnesium are important for the regulation of blood sugar levels, control of blood pressure, and health of our heart and bones. That’s why it plays an important role in sports nutrition.

A study conducted on over 127000 people showed “a significant inverse association between magnesium intake and diabetes risk. This study supports the dietary recommendation to increase the consumption of major food sources of magnesium, such as whole grains, nuts and green leafy vegetables.”

You can add pumpkin seeds (pepitas) easily to your diet. You can eat it raw or roasted, with or without salt. Having in mind not just the great taste of the pumpkin seeds but most important its richness in nutrients that we need to be healthy. You can use them to top your salad, add them to homemade granola, make your own pumpkin seed butter.

If it all sounds too complicated or you often forgot them, then at least don’t forget your daily bite of B!TE ME. Try Lemon Crush that contains pumpkin seeds as well as other healthy ingredients. Just drop it in your bag when you go to work or in your fitness bag so you can have a bite after your workout.
